Here you have the advantage of being close to Wakiki, downtown Honolulu, Chinatown, the University, the Honolulu Zoo, Honolulu’s many museums, Iolani Palace, Ala Moana Shopping Center and the many fantastic restaurants Honolulu has to offer. There are also a number of natural attractions on this side of the island such as Manoa Falls and Hanauma Bay. Our Oahu Hawaii Beachfront Rentals offer you the opportunity to enjoy a beachfront Hawaiian vacation, but have the convenience of being close to the major tourist attractions located on this side of the island.
Things to do in the South Shore the area:
  • Hanauma Bay -  About 10 minutes from most of our homes on the South Shore this is an attracation you don't want to mis.  The bay is what is left of a collapased volcano located at the waters edge.  The waters in the bay have been designated a marine preserve.  You will swim along side hundreds of local fish and other marine life.
  • Shopping:  For those of you who like to shop, the South Shore has a variety of options.  The world fameous outdoor mall Ala Moana Shopping Center is located adjacent to Waikiki.  It has all the high end stores you would find in any metropolian area and a vast selection of local options also.  Close to the our homes located in the South Shore is Kahala Mall.  It has a selection of shops and also a movie theater.
  • Movies:  To check local listing time visit this site.  MOVIE THEATERS.  Theaters closest to the homes in Portlock are the Koko Maiana Shopping Center or Kahala Mall.  The Ward 13 Theater is just past Waikiki and about 20 to 25 minutes from any of the South Shore Homes.
  • Atlantis Submarines.  For those of you who don't want to get wet but want to see what is under all the water that surrounds our islands, this is a safe and educational tour where you can lear about Hawaii's underwater ecosystem.  The submarines in this fleet have been featured in National Geographic and Newsweek.
  • Sea Life Park
 The East Shore
This area of the island is breathtakingly beautiful. A large mountain chain spilling with numerous waterfalls is the backdrop to the coastal road on this side of the island. This area is lush and verdant with vegetation. Small charming towns dot the coast and sprinkled between them are some famous tourist attractions such as the Polynesian Cultural Center, the Byodo-In Temple, Heeia State Park, Sacred Falls and Senators Fong’s Plantation and Garden. Horseback riding is also available in close proximity to many of the Oahu Beachfront Rentals we offer along this coast.
Waimanalo/Kailua
This is the southeastern portion of the island. The fantastic beaches and coastal views of this area are the focus of many of its many tourist attractions – Sandy Beach, Sea Life Park, Halona Blowhole, the light house, and Kailua and Lanikai Beach. Access to town can be made either through the Pali Highway, which is a stunning drive through the mountains of Oahu or around the southern coast driving past fantastic wave crashing scenery.
However, given the size of Oahu, choosing Oahu Hawaii Vacation Home Rentals in one area does not mean you will not have the opportunity to enjoy the advantages of the others as all these areas are easily accessible from each other.
