  We rented ths house for a surfing holiday. The house is located in front of the Himalayas Reef which produces some of the biggest surf in Oahu. There are turtles on the beach in front of the house and beautiful sandy beaches stretching for kilomteres. In short ideal location, beautiful cottage.

  This is my fourth Oahu beach house. While I have stayed in a fancier house I would say this one was the best value - great location, amazing beach. My kids (5 and 8) played and played in the sand and it was so nice not being in a huge hotel where you have to make a huge trip down to the beach from your room. The beach was totally private, usually I'd have to look 200' or more down the beach to see other people, except twice we had some folks the house next door who were out there. sea turtles were out there every day that I can remember. And the best part was that we weren't surrounded by a bunch of bikini babes and local partiers...that's distracting for a little family getaway. Thanks for the perfect stay.

  We really enjoyed our vacation. The house was perfect for us. Sunsets from the house were great and we saw Turtles on the beach directly from the beach in front of the house. The house had all of the amenities we needed including cooking utensils, barbecue,
  washer & dryer, wifi, great coffee maker, etc... It didn't feel like a rental home at all. We had the opportunity to meet the owner when we showed up early. She clearly takes pride in creating a great experience for her guests. We will be back very soon.

  This house is in an absolutely wonderful location; right on a quiet beach with turtles and seals. The kitchen is wonderful and well equipped. Comfortable couch and chair and TV. Bedrooms are small but enough room for storage. Only one bathroom in the main house, second half bath in the converted garage along with washer and dryer. House would be too small for 6 people but comfortable for four adults.

  The house and location were beautiful, the beach was pristeen, we saw sea turtles and got to body surf, boogie board, wonderful! The house was fully stocked, self contained, plenty of towels for everyone, and had beach toys for children. The only thing extra we could have used was some type of beach chair for taking down into the sand. It was nice to have the front driveway gated, we certainly felt more secure. We never wanted to leave! Would definitely consider staying there again.

  We loved our stay at Hale Kipuka. The location was amazing--we could whalewatch from our porch and the turtles came right up on the beach! The only things that were a little frustrating were that the main living room doors were stuck and didn't open, and the lights in the 3rd bedroom didn't work. The property manager came over, and sent a maintenance guy, but it was determined to be a Pella door issue--so nothing could be done. Also, no non-stick pans!

  While I made the reservations for this home, my friends hadn't a clue what the place would be like. Neither did I. We were all very excited when we walked in. We hung out on the lawn, surfed out front, made great dinners, slept while listening to the surf. It's the perfect place.

  We stayed 5 nights at Hale Kipuka during Thanksgiving week. It's a great location and the house is well maintained. There were certain things that could not be controlled by the management such as the neighbor's cat dragging a "kill" to under the house (perhaps making the bottom less accessible to cats). Otherwise, it's a perfect house on a perfect location for the winter getaway. We are planning a return trip.

  The house was great, beautiful views, perfect size for a small family and had all the amenities. Would definitely consider staying at this location again. Our only concern was the surf on the beach directly in front of the house. The waves were too strong for young children to safely swim in, although it seems in keeping with the winter season in the North Shore. Fortunately, the place is so close to town that it's close to a public beach where the waves are small and fine for kids.

  We had a fantastic time staying at the house. The beachfront location was superb. The kids love playing in the sand right in front of the house. The house was simple but had everything we needed for a great stay.
  
  Our only criticism was that one of the lamps in the King bedroom was held together by tape and exposed wires were clearly visible. This is very dangerous, particularly when you have young children with you.

  My wife and I decided to go to Hawaii on short notice. We wanted to stay on the North Shore and booked the Hale Kipuka literally the day before our arrival. The booking process was painless and the staff was quick to answer questions about the property. This was our first time renting a house anywhere, so we were a little skeptical about what it would actually look like on our arrival. The previous reviews of the house are accurate but don't fully do it justice. The house sits on a beautiful property with a very nice beach steps from the wrap around deck. The house was literally perfect for our short 6 day stay. We had no problem finding the house at all. It's very close to Haleiwa where you have a great selection of shops and places to eat. We enjoyed Bonzai sushi and the Grass Skirt Grill for lunch and Haleiwa Joe's for dinner. The beach that the property is on was nice and quiet with very few people all week. Most days it was just us and a few locals. Waimaia Bay is a short drive up the road and Sunset beach is just beyond that. The property's location was perfect. We are looking forward to our return and plan to come back with some friends next year.

  The home has a lovely energy and great vibe. We loved the open floor plan and felt very much at home. Some thoughts to pass on to the newcomers:
  
  1. Directions could be a bit more specific if this is your first trip.
  2. You cannot walk into town easily. You need to drive. We have a 3 year old so it required driving to get to stores, restaurants and the small town.
  3. That said, we loved our location. It was a private cul-de-sac, felt much safer and more secluded than the main streets and other houses.
  4. We saw giant sea turtles every day.
  5. The house had all we needed. Don't stress about amenities and big shopping trips for groceries. Many staples were there, generously left behind by previous guests. Arrive first, take stock, then do the grocery run.
  6. I do agree with the above tenant about the pillows and bedding. Felt a bit like a motel in the scratchy/uncomfortableness, but all else was lovely.
  7. A walk down the beach (to the right) leads you to a larger community and a lot of great conversations with locals.

    THE OVEN IS WORKING FINE...THE repair man moved it a bit and it started right up. There were and are plenty of light bulbs in the home in case any burn out, however, we did fine 1 lamp that was un plugged. The home is under bug control and at times an ant or roach can come in with packages. Sorry about that were in the tropics.. However, when we spoke to the tenant he couldn't of been happier with the place.

  It was the first experience for us (my wife, 2 children (5 & 2 years old) and myself) to rent a house on a vacation, but we cannot stay at hotel any more in the future by the following reasons:
  
  - can walk to the beach in bare foot from the house, and the beach is the very private beach!!
  - don' t need to think about going out to the restaurants, worrying that kids would act up
  - can wash everything within the same day
  - can cook, eat, drink... at any time we like
  
  So we surely recommend this property to everyone who is looking for the beach-front home. I must stay at this house again in the next time.
  
  There was just one nasty thing we should mention; we found dog dirt on the beautiful beach several times. Sometimes 2 big dogs walked on the beach without collars... they are kept as pets 3-5 doors from this property. I think they are free to walk out of their home and make a mess on the beach. I'd really like the owner to complain and stop them.

  Fantastic location. On beach, near Haleiwa, near lots of public beaches, surfing mecca, turtles on beach, seal on beach. Loved the gourmet kitchen. Lots of room for our family. We felt very at home. Nice decor. We had nice surprises, like the set of "Lost" being on the same beach around the corner! Beautiful sunsets. Our only complaint was lack of internet connection which was quite important. We did buy our own hammock. Should have one on site - great location for one.

  We had a fantastic time. This house has it all in a cozy space. The beach was phenomenal and the views are unbelievable. We will be back many times. The only thing the kitchen needs, although it has the best of everything, is a couple of good, big knives. We spent alot of time cooking and everything was great, but the knives there were small and dull. Other than that we do not have a single complaint.   Our family had a wonderful time - incuding both the 16 and 82 year olds. The north shore is stunning and the house allowed us to experience the sounds and sights of sunsets and rushing waves. The kitchen was beautiful and welcoming so we wound up cooking in more than expected. It would however be nice if they had internet. Because the location and home were so lovely, we did not feel the need leave the Haleiwa area. We thought this was going to be a one-time trip, but have already talked about going back. We hated to leave, which is always a good sign!

  Beautiful location. Very quiet beach and lots of turtles at high tide. Great for small children as a little tide pool forms down where the turtles come to feed. The only criticism I have is the owner left a note stressing how costly it is to own a house in Hawaii and explained that only a fraction of the fees you pay go to them. I thought this was unnecessary.

  Took my 22 y.o. daughter on vacation to Oahu (her 1st time). Stayed at 3 places in two weeks and we enjoyed this home best. House was very comfortable, she loved the sea turtles on the beach. The North Shore is much busier than when I lived in Hawaii twenty some years ago, but it still felt the same (amazingly; this home was located a short distance to all amenities. The only complaint was in the garage/wash room area there were a few palmettos (747s), but none in the house, which was very clean. Everything was working and fairly new. I'd definitely stay here again and recommend it.

  This was such a great place to stay that it will be very hard to compete with on our next vacation. We loved falling to sleep with sounds of the ocean and loved watching the turtles!!
